RISE is not for you right now if —

You are currently in an unsafe or actively abusive environment. RISE is integration work, not crisis response. Your safety and stabilization come first — and there are resources that are the right fit for exactly where you are.

You are in acute crisis that requires immediate clinical support. This program is held with care and trauma-informed expertise, but it is not a substitute for individual therapy or crisis intervention.

Your primary focus is still on understanding the other person rather than on your own healing. RISE is centered entirely on you — and that shift needs to be genuinely ready to happen.

For some kinds of pain, that's true. But trauma doesn't live in the mind. It lives in the body. In the nervous system that adapted to survive. In the breath that's been shallow for so long you've stopped noticing. In the muscles that have been braced for impact since long before the relationship ended.

No amount of insight overrides a nervous system still wired for danger. You can understand everything that happened — understand it completely, articulately, with full compassion for yourself — and still wake up at 3am flooded, still flinch at a tone of voice, still find yourself performing okayness while something in you is still scanning the horizon for threat.

That isn't a failure of insight. That isn't something more understanding will fix. That is a body that hasn't yet received the direct, embodied, repeated experience of safety it needs to update its story.

Healing that doesn't reach the body doesn't reach the trauma. That is not a philosophy. It is what the nervous system research tells us — and what women in RISE experience, often for the first time, as something they can actually feel.

WHY RISE EXISTS

I didn't build this path from textbooks. I built it from the rubble of a life that broke — more than once.

I grew up beneath the shadow of a narcissistic father, learning early how to contort myself for safety, for peace, for love that never quite landed. I married young and tried to build something different — only to find myself, two decades later, in the same storm through a different door. When that relationship ended, my world came apart in pieces I didn't know how to hold.

I did what most survivors do. I went to therapy. I read everything I could find. I worked on my mindset, my attachment patterns, my communication. I earned my Master's in Counseling. I became certified in breathwork and narcissistic relationship recovery. I studied, and studied, and studied.

And then I began working with my body — and for the first time, I felt my healing. Not understood it. Felt it. That was the difference that changed everything.

The insight had always been there. What was missing was the body. The somatic work reached what years of talking hadn't been able to touch — the bracing in my chest, the hypervigilance I'd lived in so long I'd stopped noticing it, the parts of me that had gone quiet in order to survive and didn't yet know it was safe to return.

RISE is the program I wish had existed when I began again. Not just content. A container that could hold all of it — the rage and the softness, the grief and the slowly returning joy. Something that met me in the body. That moved at the pace of actual healing. That didn't ask me to perform recovery before I'd actually found it.

I'm Jess — founder of Somatic Gateway, certified coach, somatic practitioner, and survivor of narcissistic abuse and a family of origin that shaped me long before my marriage did.

I earned my Master's in Counseling and became certified in breathwork and narcissistic relationship recovery. I've coached and supported hundreds of survivors. And the single most transformative shift in my own healing — and in the healing I've witnessed in the women I've worked with — has been the move into the body. Into somatic practice. Into the direct, embodied, nervous-system-level experience of safety.
